ABSTRACT: This database, available online, reviews 250 published accounts and presents a list of species representing the genera Aspergillus, Penicillium and related species in Turkey. Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. versicolor and Penicillium chrysogenum are the most common species in Turkey respectively. According to the published records, 365 species have been recorded from various subtrates in Turkey.

ABSTRACT: The myxomycete diversity of the Mezit valley and vicinity was assessed from 1999 to 2002 in the Southern Marmara region of the Bursa and Eskiehir provinces of Turkey. Of the 36 species and 12 genera listed, 22 represent new records for the valley and surroundings. The ecology of the valley is briefly discussed.

ABSTRACT: The coprophilous fungal mycobiota of the Sultanate of Oman was surveyed. Its distribution among the different sites and dung types was investigated. Forty-five species belonging to 25 genera are reported. The genera belong to the Discomycetes, Loculoascomycetes, Pyrenomycetes, Plectomycetes, Zygomycetes, Basidiomycetes and Myxomycetes. Most of the genera and species are new records for Oman. Twenty-one species are new records for the Arabian Peninsula and four are new records for Asia.

Badhamia goniospora, B. papaveracea, B. populina, Cribraria confusa, Dianema harveyi, Diderma niveum, Didymium sturgisii, Licea scyphoides, Macbrideola dubia, and Physarum globuliferum are new for Turkey.

Elvebakk, Arve & Jarle W. Bjerke. The Skibotn area in North Norway - an example of very high lichen species richness far to the north. Mycotaxon 96: 141 - 146. 2006.

ABSTRACT: During the 4-day excursion of the Nordic Lichen Society (NLF) in 2003, 653 lichen species were recorded from the Skibotn area in eastern Troms County, central North Norway, bringing the total of known lichen species from the area to 709. Of the 291 species considered rare, 250 were found during the excursion. Of the 115 species reported as new to Troms County, 29 are also new to North Norway and eight new to Norway. Two species, Caloplaca spitsbergensis and Stereocaulon groenlandicum, are new to Fennoscandia. The number of lichenicolous species increases to 803 for the region when 94 previously known species are added. We believe that only Sweden's Torneträsk region surpasses this diversity. The high species number-remarkable for such northern latitudes (68-69^o N)-challenges the general concept that species richness decreases as latitude increases.

ABSTRACT: Species of the genus Leccinum reported from China are reviewed and annotated with a summary of their current research status. A total of 32 names have been included from an extensive literature research. Among these names, two are regarded as synonyms of other species of the genus and another one transferred to Tylopilus. The taxonomic status of three names, the generic placement of two names and the application of one name to Chinese material are controversial. Among the remaining 23 names, seven were reported without specimen support and 16 with specimen citation. It is also found that the descriptions of six of these taxa from China differ from those from Europe and elsewhere. Specimen citation, morphology description and species identification of the Chinese records are also discussed.

ABSTRACT: This study was based on myxomycete specimens collected from Derebucak (Konya) and Akseki (Antalya) district between 2002 and 2004. According to the "Natural" or "Moist Chamber Cultures" techniques, 47 taxa belonging to 17 genera from nine families have been identified. These taxa are listed in alphabetical order and provided in the result section. This list includes information on epithet, author, locality, habitat, altitude, date, and herbarium number for each taxon.

ABSTRACT: The scrutiny of ca. 188 publications issued between 1867 and 2005 revealed that ca. 1500 fungus/host combinations of white rusts and downy mildews (Albuginales and Peronosporales) have been reported from Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands. The fungi belong to 13 genera and 101 species, and are parasitic on 266 plants belonging to 146 genera and 32 families. The hosts represent about 3.3 % of the total number of plants known from this territory. It is concluded that the probable number of fungi belonging to these two orders should be sensibly higher in this area, and that more collecting is necessary.

ABSTRACT: A preliminary checklist of the polypore mycota of “Yungas”, subtropical mountain forests of northwestern Argentina, is presented. An intensive search of records in literature was done, and polypore exsiccatae from that phytogeographic province kept at the main Argentinean herbaria were studied. A total of 850 specimens were revised and 111 species were determined. Phellinus laevigatus and Skeletocutis stellae are recorded for the first time in South America; 8 species are new records for Argentina and 31 new records for the region. The new combination Dichomitus hexagonoides is proposed.

ABSTRACT: Myxomycete collections obtained between 1957–2006 from 18 floristic squares and 260 localities in Turkey represent 216 taxa from 39 genera and 12 families in the Myxomycota. The specimens were collected from 37 substrates including coniferous trees (six), broadleaf trees (30), and one highly decayed substrate that could not be identified. Arcyria cinerea was one widespread species found in 11 different floristic squares on 13 differing substrates. Arcyria cinerea, A. incarnata, Fuligo septica, and Lycogala epidendrum were reported from all elevations of the study area. ABSTRACT: The microfungal air spora of Afyonkarahisar district were determined by using Air Ideal samplers. 2400 fungal colonies were isolated from 216 samples taken monthly from six different areas of Afyonkarahisar in 2005. 32 different microfungal taxa were identified. Frequencies of the main genera were Penicillium (35.8%), Cladosporium (24.5%), Alternaria (13.1%), Aspergillus (8.9%), Ulocladium (6.6%), Drechslera (0.6%), Rhizopus (0.5%), Polyscytalum (0.1%), and sterile colonies (12.0%).

ABSTRACT: The goal of this paper is to integrate and update the first edition of the checklist of Ligurian macrofungi with data resulting from mycological research conducted mainly in holm-oak woods during the past last three years. Of the 172 new taxa collected, 15 represent Ascomycota, 157 represent Basidiomycota; 12 taxa are recorded for the first time from Italy and many others are considered rare or infrequent. Each taxonomic entry includes Latin name, author, habitat, height, and WGS-84 Global Position System (GPS) coordinates. This work, together with the original Ligurian checklist, represents a contribution to the national checklist.

ABSTRACT: A reference checklist has been compiled giving the names of all species of non-lichenized fungi described by collection, observation or culture from the general Antarctic region since records were first published in 1847. The list gives the current names and taxonomic dispositions of over 1000 reported fungi (c. 750 species), together with links to bibliographic references for each report. Additional data include some details on the collection or isolation, and some limited information on associated organisms and substrates. The list is maintained online via the Antarctic Environmental Data Centre at: www.antarctica.ac.uk/bas_research/data/access/fungi/. The list is updated on a regular basis.

ABSTRACT: This paper provides a compilation of available data on the myxomycetes, larger ascomycetes, and larger basidiomycetes reported from or known to occur in Turkey. Three main lists of correct names of myxomycetes, larger ascomycetes, and larger basidiomycetes, recognized as occurring in Turkey, are given, in which the taxa are alphabetically arranged. For each taxon, references are cited. An index of synonyms based on literature records from Turkey is appended. A list of excluded records, providing reasons for their exclusion, is also given.

ABSTRACT: The first catalogue of corticioid fungi from Madeira Island is presented. The study covered 18 localities and 561 samples were analyzed. This catalogue includes 110 species, 89 of them new to the island. They belong to 50 genera, of which Hyphodontia, Hyphoderma, Trechispora, Stereum, Botryobasidium and Sistotrema are the more significant. The presence of Stereum pseudorimosum, Subulicystidium perlongisporum and Tubulicium dussii on the island is also remarkable.
