Dupont, J., L. Bettucci, F. Pietra, D. Laurent & M.-F. Roquebert. Acremonium neocaledoniae, a new species from wood in the Southwestern Lagoon of New Caledonia. Mycotaxon 75: 349-356. 2000. ABSTRACT: Acremonium neocaledoniae Roquebert & Dupont, a new species of Acremonium isolated from drifting wood in the Southwestern Lagoon in New Caledonia, is described. It is readily distinguished from related species of the genus by the size and shape of conidia, confirmed by molecular data (18S rDNA) and by the production of a new cytotoxic metabolite sesquiterpene trichothecene, verrol 4-acetate. KEYWORDS: Acremonium neocaledoniae n. sp., Hyphomycete.
